Sera is still very close to her mother and never far away, she is a bold girl and growing well.

Sera resides with her newfound family and will continue to thrive under the nurturing care of her mother at the sanctuary.

Hailing from the Bago region as a proud Brumby, Sera's playful antics and bold personality add a touch of charm to the sanctuary's vibrant community.

Macarthur

Meet MAC:

Macarthur now called Mac arrived into HOOFS care in December after not finding safety in Domestic life.

He is rising 4 years and originated from Kosciuszko National Park removals in 2024.

He was advertised for rehoming but had no success in finding a suitable home so was surrendered to us.

He is presently at Berrigan Sanctuary and will soon be transported to Harrow Sanctuary to live his life as free as possible in captivity

Clancy enjoys living as free as possible with his family at Harrow Sanctuary

Warragul

Meet Warragul

Warragul was rescued in 2012 after a large removal from Todd River Downs NT,

He was a estimated yearling and trained well for human companionship.

Warra has had 2 homes through the years 1st return 2019 and due to ill health he has returned 2025 to live his life free as possible with his buddy Jarrah.

Matilda

Introducing Matilda: A remarkable mature Bago mare who wandered into the paddocks of SMART Animal Rescue in Batlow NSW and found herself a safe haven.

It was here that she gave birth to her precious filly, Sera, a symbol of hope and new beginnings.

Matilda's journey has led her to the HOOFS sanctuary, where she will reside for life, surrounded by the sanctuary's compassionate embrace.

" Caleena - A Greek name meaning “the moon."

Introducing Caleena :

This little girl is daughter to Corry & Clancy Barmah Brumbies.

Sadly Caleena is domestically Bred Brumby foal

before coming to HOOFS2010 and is now free to live as a wild horse would in Harrow Victoria,

Caleena spends most of her day with Aunty Nullah her weaning guardian she is growing very well and just starting to interact with volunteers.

Calypso full.jpg

Calypso

Introducing Calypso: A remarkable mare hailing from Barmah National Park and rescued as part of the River Road operation in collaboration with Parks Victoria.

Arriving at the sanctuary with her precious filly, Aurora, whilst also in foal, Calypso's journey has been one of resilience and strength.

With a spirit as independent as the wild, Calypso will find her sanctuary home for life, where she can roam free and embrace the peace she deserves.

While she may come across as non-social, Calypso's reserved nature masks a keen intelligence and a heart filled with wisdom.

Mugan Update

Such a long road for Mugan, thanks to an awesome team of Vets he was gelded successfully in November and then transported to freedom at Harrow Sanctuary.

He is still a recluse but seems happy in his surroundings.

Sadly his wounds were too deep to forget, the best we could give him was his freedom to choose,

Mugan is slowly coming to terms with his new life and will come out for some Lucerne hay.

 Mugan: The name means Ghost

A troubled soul again a failed rehoming that saw Mugan returned to the contractor with Eumarrah

Mugan is always on high alert and is taking some time to settle here.

Again time is what he needs to learn to trust and regain his confidence. Slowly slowly we hope he will soon be able to trust in us.

Mugan will have all the time he needs here in Sanctuary.

Sadly Mugan has many issues that see him taking much longer, Sadly he was not able to be gelded on Vet day even after having mammoth drugs, Our team of vets are working together to find a better solution to helping Mugan so he can be taken to Harrow Sanctuary to live as free as possible.

He is much calmer now and enjoys his days with hus buddy Migaloo

Eumarrah

Meet Eumarrah: The name means Warrior

A failed rehoming saw this 18mth old colt back at the contractors.
Sadly his first contact with humans wasnt positive so he landed with us here. The road for this fellow will be patience and he will have as long as he needs to find that all humans are not the same

On collecting this little man a challenge was excepted, he had a halter and drag lead on for some time

the first contact was in a crush again to enable the removal of the halter before transport.

His fear of humans was evident as he fought to not be touched again, so very sad to see.

he will never be forced to accept things human means.

At HOOFS2010, he will continue to thrive, surrounded by  27 Brumbies who now live as close to freedom as possible, He is a lovely young man

Jarrah

On rescuing little Jarrah in  2020 a weanling from Bago State Forest, such a damaged little man.
Love and patience were the key to him becoming who he is today,

Jarrah found a wonderful home when he was ready for the great big world and lived in safety with his wonderful human.

Due to ill health of his human  sadly he had to come home as all our Brumbies are rehomed on lease with a boomerang policy that ensures they do not end up in the never-ending cycle of rehoming.

Jarrah will stay in life Sanctuary at Harrow Victoria.

Mai ! has found her sanctuary home with us, where she will be cherished and cared for in the long term.
