HOOFS2010 ANNUAL REPORT 2024/2025

Presidents Report 2025

Hello everyone, well 15 years has ticked over and what a hell of a ride,,

Firstly thankyou each and everyone for walking with me on the road the past year, Whilst there are some who should have special recognition for past efforts I can not mention all.

I did not accept the roll of president for the coming year and I thank all for the votes for that position I believe a secretary is the roll I am needed the most.

The past year we achieved some amazing feats and its thanx to each and every supporter who also saw a vision of permanent safety for Brumbies in Australia.

We hope at some stage many of you can come and enjoy the new Sanctuary in Harrow Victoria, Camping is possible however you will need to be self equipped as there is no power or bathroom facilities. Something we will work on later in the year.

The Brumbies are thriving in their own home and as Brumbies return the family will grow.. Until we understand the property completely we will not be doing active rescue to ensure we can care for the over 40 Brumbies who rely on us for their ongoing survival.

We still have so much to do in Harrow such as installing a septic system and bathroom Facilities , Hay Shed and Equipment shed, Installing water troughs to ensure drought proofed, Electric fencing to ensure boundary fences are adequate. And fixing the cabin to enable a caretaker has accommodation that is comfortable and liveable.

Our AGM was held on the 24th of August 2025 and the old committee were removed and a new committee elected.

Our new chair and committee are as Follows:-

Welcome new President Mr Bob Coleville, a dedicated passionate man for the Brumbies His accepting address to all is Onward and upward we go to ensure the security of our Australian Brumbies.

Vice President is Lisa Barr filling the roll again for the new coming year, Lisa is well informed on the issues for HOOFS and our Brumbies.

Treasurer for the new year again our very own Lisa, Lisa works closely with the chartered accountancy firm to ensure our Financials and record keeping are exemplary. She also is responsible for reporting to the ACNC and incorporated agencies who govern a Charity. Thankyou Lisa

Secretary is myself Lynette Sutton, A roll I think is important to the ongoing success of a passion that began 15 years ago, it is not our position in life that defines us but what we bring to the road of longevity and success. Thank you for having me,

Ass Secretary Jasmine Luscombe one of the younger members who has walked the world of Brumby since a young age, Jazz assists with hands on and back up for documentation and letter writing .. Thankyou Jazz.

Our General Committee members who we thank for their ongoing commitment:-

Donna Pratt Brumby carer and foal manager

Anne-Marie Hargraves, Graphic design

Mark Buttsworth, Media and photography

Lilliana Luscombe, Website design and editing

HOOFS2010 ANNUAL REPORT 2023/24

Helping Our Old Friends Survive since 2010

President Report
Good evening everyone.,
Its been a crazy time with looking at properties and negotiating a mortgage. The decision to purchase prior to raising the total amount was not one made lightly.. Time was not on our side.
I made an offer on several properties inline with our budget and what the sanctuary would actual need to be. Our offer on a property in Harrow Victoria was accepted. Whilst I understand the distance may be an issue for some I held fast to the fact its about sanctuary for our Brumbies not ease for humans. It is not often I see committee here so I do not see much of an issue, there are other ways your position on committee can make a difference for HOOFS2010.
I have committed to the past 15 years and realise I still have a big road ahead of me and I sincerely hope you will all walk beside me.
Lisa our Treasurer has completed an information document for all to inform themselves of the new challenges ahead.
Not much else to report from me other than Thankyou all for your past efforts
Best wishes and Happy New Year

Regards

Lynette Sutton

Another 12 months have passed and it's been a tough year. The Brumbies across Australia are in dire need and many of us have felt the limitations imposed upon us.

With that being said many newcomers to the plight have stepped up to save our Brumbies, it takes sheer dedication to a cause that one must apply to themselves to help out.

Raising funds, finding the right homes, caring for the Brumbies long term when they just cannot adjust to domestic life, the management of the sanctuary, and all the obligations and admin tasks on a daily basis all require commitment.  It's all a part of the bigger picture because every part of this work must be considered. It is not as simple as just saving them all, there are many facets and modes of rehoming and each is a worthy effort whilst the government and their agencies are firmly set on removing and eradicating all the living heritage many of us hold so dear.

This past year we all have worked hard with our fundraising efforts to not only care for our Brumbies but a dream to buy land so that the work can continue well into the future. The land project is a place that will be a Sanctuary to Brumbies, a place where like-minded Australians can share the beauty of our wild horses, a place that belongs to all who care to join and share, to date we have raised  $165,000 which has provided a good start, there's still a long way to go.

In 2023 our Charity Shop in Chanter St closed due to the owner of the shop acquiring a lease, we therefore packed up and moved out. We are very grateful for the time that we were able to utilise the shop with no rent payments for the use.

We then decided that it would be best to re-work the barn at the Brumby Sanctuary to accommodate the shop. There was a bit of work to be done to set up and we're now up and running. It's now been renamed to Brumby Barn Shop.

We are looking at all possibilities of how to secure land. We have presented our plan to government officials for funding, there is no assistance from them at all, and our plans are ignored.  We strive to raise the funds to buy sizeable land that can secure a future, we do not want to lease land because we feel that this could potentially place the Brumbies in a vulnerable situation and even jeopardize our overall project and plan.

We have engaged a financial broker to look at the possibility of borrowing the funds to purchase land but the risks are too great if we were not able to meet mortgage repayments.

Therefore we do have some milestones to conquer and a lot of work ahead whilst we strive to meet the dream and care for our Brumbies in Sanctuary.

Motivation is key to being successful and we will achieve the Sanctuary dream. Momentum is building and it is this that keeps us grounded and holding tight to the goals we must keep kicking. The land project is the solution for our Aussie icons, it's how we can HELP OUR OLD FRIENDS SURVIVE.

HOOFS2010 will continue to lobby for our Wild horses, We will continue on this journey to be the very voice that our Heritage Horses need, we're not giving up, or giving in, we're standing firm in all that we believe for our Brumbies.

Our deepest gratitude goes out to each and every one of you who continues to support and walk this journey with us.

Lynette Sutton

Thank you from the entire HOOFS2010 team
